“Whichever, Whatever” Is The Best EP To Come Out This Summer

“Whichever, Whatever” Is The Best EP To Come Out This Summer

Clocking in around 15 minutes, Whichever, Whatever, the second EP by Floridian bubblegrunge power pop trio (their words not mine) Expert Timing is both a cute and fun time.

The five-track EP is filled with enough groovy jams to keep you smiling all day. The main vocalists — Jeff and Katrina Snyder — work off each other incredibly well, and drummer Gibran Colbert is the glue to the band. And on their first outing with Count Your Lucky Stars (Overo, Singing Lungs, Thank You, I’m Sorry), the trio show us why they’re damn good.

“Gravity” kicks off the EP on a high note, and the highs never slow down. Usually it’d be easy to pick out which song on a release is the best, but for Whichever, Whatever, that was overall difficult. Each track shines bright, and just like a cute litter of puppies, it’s hard to pick one. Each song puts a smile on my face. But if I had to pick, listen to the Lemuria-esque “Good Things” and the 96 second long 90’s throwback track “Luckin’ Out”.

Overall, if you really like fun times, songs tackling subjects like consent, and the stylings of Weezer, early No Doubt, or The Beths, then check out Whichever, Whatever.

Thank You, I’m Sorry Sign With Count Your Lucky Stars, Drop Acoustic Song

Chicago indie trio Thank You, I’m Sorry have some big news today.

The band signed with Count Your Lucky Stars (Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate), Kittyhawk, Singing Lungs,) the label owned by E!E! frontman Keith Latinen. Thank You, I’m Sorry will be releasing two albums this year, the first being the acoustic record The Malta House, which comes out on February 7. Pre-orders are available now. The second album has no release date yet.

Thank You, I’m Sorry also dropped a brand new track off of The Malta House earlier today called “How Many Slugs Can We Throw Against the Wall Until We Question Our Own Mortality.” Frontperson Colleen Dow told New Noise, “I wrote ‘How Many Slugs…’  the fall after moving home from my first attempt at independent adulthood. I was living alone in a town of 1,200 people (Malta, which the album is named after.) I had just been writing songs in an attempt to cope with the emotions I was experiencing. This was one of the first songs I wrote that garnered reactions from my friends due to how relatable they found it.”

“I spent the remainder of my time at the Malta house writing more songs about my collective negative feelings and decided to start Thank You, I’m Sorry shortly after moving out of that house and into Chicago. The name of the song comes from a 3 a.m. conversation with my then-roommate when they said the phrase ‘How many slugs can we throw against the wall until we question our own mortality?’ I remember telling them right after them saying it that I was going to name a song that, to which they simply replied, ‘do it.’”

The trio will be hitting the road next month with Tunnel Songs. Check out the tour dates below.
