Switchfoot Cover The Chainsmokers, Vampire Weekend On New EP

Huh.

Christian alt-rockers Switchfoot are dropping an appropriately titled covers EP — Covers — slated for a June 19 release date. The six-song EP features the band covering everyone from The Chainsmokers and Frank Ocean to Harry Styles and Vampire Weekend. Right now you can listen to their rendition of Ocean’s “Swim Good,” which is from the R&B artist’s debut mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra.

Check out the track list and artwork below (if you look closely you can see PUP’s self-titled album amongst the LPs.)

“Seems like we all could use a bit of perspective these days: what it means to be alive, to be in community, to be human,” they wrote on Twitter. “So we’ve decided to bring you our first ever Covers EP, our own stamp on a diverse group of songs. We want to shock and surprise you. We want to move you.”

The Grammy Award-winning quintet further elaborated, “We’ve recorded a collection of songs written by a diverse group of songwriters. Different nationalities. Different ethnicities. Different backgrounds. Different understandings of the world. Even if we can’t be in the same room, it’s still our job to bring people together.”

Earlier in June, Switchfoot will take part in a drive-in concert at Petco Park in San Diego with The B-Side Players, SM Familia and Los Sleepwalkers. The show is Sunday, June 7, at 7 p.m.
