Seahaven Make Their Glorious Return With New Album, Sign With Pure Noise Records

After a period of radio silence, Torrance, Calif. emo act Seahaven have returned.

The group who’ve mostly been inactive since 2016 (minus some shows with Man Overboard as part of their 10-year anniversary tour) revealed today that they were dropping their long-awaited third album Halo Of Hurt on November 20 via Pure Noise Records (The Amity Affliction, Elder Brother, UnityTX). It’s the band’s first album to not be released by longtime label Run For Cover Records (American Pleasure Club, Healing Potpourri, mewithoutYou) and is the follow-up to 2014’s Reverie Lagoon: Music For Escapism Only.

Pure Noise wrote in a press release, “Astral and eerie, moonlit and menacing, Halo Of Hurt reignites the magic dust that made Seahaven’s early 2010s run so special. It’s an adventurous rock album that urges you to grapple with your self doubt and innermost demons, then cast them into oblivion.”

“In Halo Of Hurt, there’s some underlying anxiety from coming up short after 2014,” frontperson Kyle Soto said in the statement. “I wanted to bring it back to the beginning of the band — a revived version of our younger selves in my garage in 2009. No timelines, no pressure. No need to fit a certain mold.”

Pre-orders are available now. Check out the artwork and track list below.

2. Moon

Tom Diaz, ex-TWIABP Vocalist, Dead At 32

Tom Diaz, ex-TWIABP Vocalist, Dead At 32

Sad news from the emo world.

Tom Diaz, founding member and original vocalist for the band The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die, abbreviated as TWIABP, has passed away. He was 32.

The band posted a statement on Facebook which reads:

“We are incredibly heartbroken about the passing of Tom Diaz. He was an extremely talented artist, with such a huge amount of musicality. On top of all of that, he was an incredible friend.

Tom was in the band from 2009-2012, and we deeply cherish the times we got to share with him. I’m sure anyone could attest to his kind and loving nature.”

Diaz’s family requested the band that they “would appreciate donations to the Friends of Assisi Food Pantry in Danielson, CT.”

Diaz was a founding member of the ever fluctuating emo/indie band, creating it back in 2009. He appeared on the band’s earliest discography, singing and playing keys on the EPs FormlessnessJosh Is Dead, a split with Deep Leap called Are Here To Help You which was released by Topshelf Records (A Great Big Pile Of Leaves, Prawn, Slingshot Dakota) and the Run For Cover Records (American Pleasure Club, Citizen, mewithoutYou) compilation Mixed Signals which featured Polar Bear Club, Make Do And Mend, Balance And Composure, Hostage Calm, and The Menzingers. He departed the group in 2012 and was replaced by current vocalist David F. Bello.

Bello released his own statement about Diaz:

“Six years ago this month I started on a path Tom created and I will continue to think of him and love him every time I hear or sing his words and live amongst our friends. [“Gig Life”] was one of my favorite songs before I ever sang it after him or ever even thought I ever would. I know he wrote so many, but [“Gig Life”] is important to me because it’s about the life he gave me. Rest in peace, my friend.”

Since Diaz’s departure, the group have signed to Epitaph Records (The Frights, Obey The Brave, Quicksand) and have released two albums with the label, their newest one being 2017’s Always Foreign.

Thursday To Play Two Classic Albums In Full On Upcoming Tour

Thursday To Play Two Classic Albums In Full On Upcoming Tour

Yesterday, post-hardcore legends Thursday teased us by putting in the coordinates of the cities they’ll be playing in. They also told us to check in tomorrow at 10 a.m. EST for the big news.

Well today is the day and the news is beyond incredible. Not only will Thursday be touring, but they’ll play their second and third albums, Full Collapse and War All The Time in full. Not only that, but they’re playing each city twice, one night being FC and the other being WATT.

If you have any hopes that they’ll reunite for good and release new music, I have some unfortunate news. At the conclusion of this tour, we intend to put an end to ‘the reunion,’” the band posted in a statement. Thursday followed up that sad bit of information by saying, “If we are ever able to do Thursday again, it will be a new, separate chapter.”

Read the full statement below:

“It’s our honor to announce that we’ll be ending our 20th Anniversary by taking Full Collapse and War All the Time on the road, for a very limited US tour, in early 2019. When we reunited the band, two years ago, we had no idea that it would carry us through our 20th year or that we’d be selling out every show that we play in 2018. It’s been a very gratifying and humbling year for us. This tour is our attempt at saying ‘thank you’ to all of the people around the US that have supported us for all these years. We’ll be playing small venues, like we did when we began touring. At the conclusion of this tour, we intend to put an end to ‘the reunion.’ When we stopped playing last time, it wasn’t on the best of terms. This time, we get to put down touring on the very highest of notes: in each other’s lives and able to pick up and play together behind closed doors whenever we want. If we are ever able to do Thursday again, it will be a new, separate chapter. Thank you all for your time, attention and friendship.”

Full Collapse came out in 2001 via Victory Records (Conveyer, Reverend Horton Heat, Victorian Halls), featuring one of their most well-known tracks “Understanding In A Car Crash”, and War All The Time came out in 2003 on the major label Island Records (Disclosure, The Gaslight Anthem, The Killers).

Joining Thursday on tour will be Bostonian metalcore act Vein (who’re playing Snowed In and ‘Tid The Season later this year) and indie rock band American Pleasure Club (formally known as Teen Suicide, featuring electronic artist Ricky Eat Acid and rapper Kitty). Check out the tour dates below.
