Seaway Are Vibin’ With Their New Album “Big Vibe”

Canadian pop-punkers Seaway have announced the name of their fourth record.

Big Vibe, their fourth album and third overall with Pure Noise Records (The Bouncing Souls, Eastwood, Moon Tooth) drops October 16. Seaway also unveiled the album’s first single, “Big Vibe”, which you can watch the music video for below.

The band wrote in a statement, “We can’t wait to introduce the new era of Seaway. Big Vibe is the record we have been working towards our entire careers. For this record we threw away usual conventions of the scene and genre and just made the record we always wanted to make. As usual for Seaway, it is a dynamic collection of sound and inspiration that bleeds through from track to track. Big Vibe is a feeling that doesn’t let up throughout the entire record, and we hope you feel it in your entire body.”

Pre-orders are available now.

The artwork for the album was designed by Head North’s drummer Benjamin M. Lieber. Lieber has done work for bands like Trophy Eyes, Heart Attack Man, Save Face, A Will Away, and Boston Manor.

He wrote, “The band brought me on in January to start creating a new world for their edgy, weird, phenomenal record to live in & I couldn’t be prouder with what we came up with. I went into this project knowing I wanted to create a massive body of work and boy we have done it! I put a lot of time into making sure every aspect of the various layouts for all the physical assets told the story of our world, which I’m excited to share more of as the album gets released.”

“After creating the base artworks for the record, we began building around it with other types of content. I collaborated with the wildly talented Miguel Barbosa to create several music videos expanding the Big Vibe world. This first video is truly a cannonball of energy and we all are so proud of what we created together. The dancers background was created with stop motion photographs of a hand-painted canvas by yours truly. More info on that next week.”

It is the first album by the group to not have guitarist Patrick Carleton, who, according to a now deleted tweet and Instagram post, left the group last December. “We have been waiting to announce his departure for reasons beyond this post.” Allegedly he was removed from the band due to a post he made which read, “I work alongside law enforcement everyday who do an amazing job keeping our most vulnerable population safe. People of all colour. Making the baseless claim that all cops are bad is fighting prejudice with prejudice. If you truly believe that all cops are bad, you should never be allowed to dial ‘911’ when you’re the one in need.”
