The Most Anticipated Albums Of 2022 (Part Four)

The Most Anticipated Albums Of 2022 (Part Four)

Here we are. The final part of our most anticipated albums of the year. Please enjoy part 4!

This is part four of four. If you haven’t read part three yet, check it out here.

2021 was the year many musicians showed us the works they created during the 2020 pandemic. And since the pandemic is still (somewhat) raging around the world, it’s giving musicians even more time to perfect their craft.

In 2022, we’re getting several great albums some several great bands and artists, but out of all the albums that are coming out this year, these are the ones you need to keep your eyes on. Here are the most anticipated albums of 2022, in no particular order.

SECRETS

Album: The Collapse (Velocity)

Release Date: 6/10

Back in the early 2010s, SECRETS were just one of the many post-hardcore bands that simply existed among the sea of run-of-the-mill sounding bands who played Warped Tour. A decade has passed and so has that style. What’s a post-hardcore band to do? Toss everything away and become heavy af. That is what the now metalcore band are trying to accomplish on their new record The Collapse, coming out today on Velocity Records (And So I Watch You From Afar, D.R.U.G.S., The Villa). And from what’s been heard so far, they’ve became the band they’ve always wanted to be.

The Wonder Years

Album: TBA (Hopeless)

Release Date: TBA

Ready to be sad again? Philly’s greatest sad boys have graduated to sad men with their upcoming seventh studio album. The Wonder Years have gifted us two beautiful songs: the emotional “Oldest Daughter” and the slow burn semi-acoustic track “Summer Clothes”. Both are beautiful to say the least. No word yet on a release date but the band promised that it will drop later this year via Hopeless Records (Fame On Fire, Scene Queen, Vaines).

Lizzo

Album: Special (Atlantic/Nice Life)

Release Date: 7/15

It’s about damn time. Prince’s protégé has returned to us with new material, the first since her breakthrough third album Cuz I Love You back in 2019. And just as the name says it, Special is truly special, according to Lizzo. “I think that the music really is going to speak for itself,” she told Apple’s Zane Lowe. “I’m writing songs about love from every direction, and I hope that I can turn a little bit of the fear that’s been running rampant in this world, energetically into love. That’s the point. I had a lot of fear, and I had to do the work on myself, and this music is some of that work in turning that fear into love. I hope that when people listen to this album, it makes their day just a little bit better, a little bit more filled with love.” Let’s hope this album is truly worthy to be named special.

Panic! At The Disco

Album: Viva Las Vengeance (Fueled By Ramen/DCD2/Warner)

Release Date: 8/19

Twitter’s most hated popstar is back. Love him or hate him, Brendon Urie has proven time and time again that he can do no wrong music wise, and his seventh album, Viva Las Vengeance, will hopefully show us that he hasn’t lost touch in his four-year absence. Working with producers Jake Sinclair (Fall Out Boy, New Politics, Weezer) and Mike Viola (Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness, Fall Out Boy, Mandy Moore), the album dives into Urie’s childhood and relationships. Viva Las Vengeance is a “cinematic musical journey about the fine line between taking advantage of your youth, seizing the day and burning out.” Rage against the dying of the light, P!ATD.

The Devil Wears Prada

Album: Color Decay (Solid State)

Release Date: 9/16

It took me decades to get into The Devil Wears Prada. The christian metalcore band have been growing stronger since their Warped Tour days, becoming giants in their genre. Now with their eighth record on the horizon, Color Decay, the band decided to test their growth and togetherness by recording the album in “remote hideaways” across Wisconsin and California with keyboardist Jonathan Gering sitting in the producer’s chair. They said in a press release that “collaborating closely” brought TDWP a “rich sonic architecture.” Color Decay drops September 16 on Solid State Records (Azusa, Fit For A King, Norma Jean).

Polyphia

Album: TBA (Rise)

Release Date: TBA

Oh who are we kidding? Album four is a myth. Everyone knows that. Or is it? Could this be the year that album four officially drops? Could be. The instrumental prog-rock quartet have been teasing fans about this mythical album for a bit, but guitarist Tim Henson did tell Alternative Press that it does exist. “The only hints that we give towards it are printed on merch drops with little texts on hoodies and stuff. It’ll say something like ‘album four is a myth,’ just to mess with people because they’ve been waiting so long, but it’s really interesting to watch our Spotify and our socials grow without us doing anything,” Henson said in an interview with the magazine. “Obviously, we’re doing a ton of things behind the scenes, but not putting anything out for anyone to grasp on to when they’re just rallying together with all the old stuff, it definitely feels good to know that we have a very starved fanbase waiting for us to drop [songs].” He did tease the appearances of an “OG goat guitar player” on the record (Steve Vai, perhaps?), “an OG goat rock singer”, and some “pretty well-known rappers and then lots of incredible instrumentalists.” Album four will hopefully drop this year on the band’s new label Rise Records (Covey, Flogging Molly, Royal Coda).

Travie McCoy

Album: Never Slept Better (Hopeless)

Release Date: 7/15

Twelve years have passed since Travie McCoy dropped his debut solo album Lazarus. In that span of time, his collaborator on his hit single “Billionaire”, Bruno Mars, became a superstar, reunited his old rap-rock band Gym Class Heroes before killing it off shortly before their appearance at Warped Tour’s 25th anniversary show, and signed with Hopeless Records. Now in the present day, he’s about to unleash his long-awaited second solo album Never Slept Better. Can he strike gold once more?

Porcupine Tree

Album: Closure/Continuation (Music For Nations)

Release Date: 6/24

British prog-rock legends Porcupine Tree blew everyones’ minds back in 2021 when they announced that they were reuniting for the first time in a decade. During that break, frontman Steven Wilson committed himself to his solo work with the rest of the band doing the same. The same day they reunited, the now trio (bassist Colin Edwin is continuing his solo endeavors) released a new song and announced their eleventh album Closure/Continuation, which wouldn’t come out for another seven months. Get stoked, Porcupine Tree fans. Only a few more days til Closure/Continuation drops.

Death Cab For Cutie

Album: Asphalt Meadows (Atlantic)

Release Date: 9/16

25 years ago, a small band from Washington state graced our ears by the name of Death Cab For Cutie. And 25 years later, they’re about to give us their tenth record Asphalt Meadows. Dropping this September through longtime label Atlantic Records (100 gecs, Coldplay, In This Moment), the group collaborated with Grammy Award winning-producer John Congleton (AJJ, The Dismemberment Plan, Manchester Orchestra). The record is their follow-up to 2018’s Thank You For Today and 2020’s The Georgia EP which had DCFC covering bands like TLC, Neutral Milk Hotel, and Cat Power.

Phoenix

Album: TBA (Glassnote)

Release Date: TBA

French indie pop darlings Phoenix have been really quiet for a while after dropping Ti Amo in 2017. But in January, they confirmed that album #7 was in the works. And while no more word on the record has dropped recently, they did release to the public a brand new track called “Alpha Zulu”, which is slated to appear on the record.

Where Are They Now?: Checking Up On 25 Bands From Last Year’s Prenatt’s Picks List (2018 Edition)

Back in December, I wrote a massive article about half of the artists I covered on my first ever Prenatt’s Picks lists with The Record. I wanted to look at where some of those bands and musicians went. Some died (Lil Peep), some fell apart (Home Sweet Home), and tons were accused of sexual allegations (Pinegrove, Sorority Noise, PWR BTTM).

Now that it’s 2019, I can see what happened to those who I covered on last year’s lists. Let’s check up on them.

Settle Your Scores

2018 was a big year for the easycore group. They dropped their second album Better Luck Tomorrow on SharpTone Records (As I Lay Dying, Holding Absence, Miss May I), toured with We Were Sharks, Bilmuri, and Nominee, and…then got dropped by SharpTone. Now independent again, the group are picking up right where they left off. So far this year they’ve dropped an electric version of “My Reason To Come Back Home” called “My Reason To Come Back Home 2: Electric Boogaloo”, started recording new music, and toured with Calling All Captains, who were on this year’s Prenatt’s Picks list. And yes, they’re still shitposting. Never change, fellas.

awakeniam

Awaken I Am

No one should have gone through what Awaken I Am went through in 2018. Last May, guitarist Connor Verner-Oakley was killed in a car accident. This tragedy would help the band grow stronger, creating the EP The Beauty In Tragedy, which honored their fallen brother. They also got a new vocalist Jimmy Stevenson who replaced Adam Douglas. Since being featured, they’ve toured with SECRETS, Escape The Fate, and Slaves, dropped an EP, and just wrapped up a headlining tour in their native Australia with I The Mighty.

nothing,nowhere.

He blew up quick. The New England based emo rapper had a successful 2018 and so far a fantastic 2019. nothing, nowhere. dropped his Fueled By Ramen (A Day To Remember, The Front Bottoms, Lights) debut record Ruiner last April, dropped a collaboration with clothing label Famous Stars And Straps, toured with Fall Out Boy, Wicca Phase Springs Eternal, and is currently on the road with grandson. A collaboration EP with Blink-182’s Travis Barker called Bloodlust is coming out Friday, September 27.

7 Minute Martians

The Ohio based pop-punk group 7 Minute Martians seemed to have had a great year. I wrote, “I really hope the world pays attention to these guys, they sound amazing.” And it seemed that people were paying attention. They ended up doing shows with The Ataris, Keep Flying, and a former Prenatt’s Picks list band Mascots. Minus the departure of their drummer Nick Neumeister, it looks like 7MM are getting there.

MAKEOUT

MAKEOUT

Earlier this year, the future for MAKEOUT was blurry. Just a year prior, they appeared on the Vans Warped Tour, toured with Cute Is What We Aim For and Icon For Hire, and were riding high with the success of their album The Good Life. Then January came and their lead vocalist announced he was done with tour life and quit, leaving the rest of the group unsure of their future. That was until just last week when former American Idol contestant Kyle Dee and ex-Sleep On It bassist AJ Khan joined the group. Expect big things for MAKEOUT in 2020.

Mt. Joy

Folk group Mt. Joy enjoyed their 2018, playing various festivals along with artists like Paul McCartney, Rise Against, CHVRCHES, The Hives, and Modest Mouse, dropping their debut self-titled record, toured throughout the country and Europe, and even performed on TV twice (CBS This Morning and Jimmy Kimmel Live!). And it seems their 2020 is looking bright since they’re opening up for The Lumineers on their world tour. Not bad.

The Frights

Indie punks The Frights may have started off as a prank, but their success ain’t nothing to joke about. They dropped their third record (and first with Epitaph Records) Hypochondriac last August, appearing at Riot Fest last fall, playing Coachella in April, made a live album, and so much more. Just yesterday they announced they’ll be on the second Songs That Saved My Life compilation covering Modest Mouse’s “Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes” which comes out November 8. Later this fall the band will be opening up for The Story So Far and Matt And Kim.

Sharptooth

Last year treated Sharptooth well. With a spot on the final Vans Warped Tour as well as shows with Cane Hill, Snapcase, Knocked Loose, Propagandhi, and Senses Fail, the Baltimore based hardcore group showed they’re a force to be reckoned with. 2019 so far has been great, with the band touring with As It Is, Comeback Kid, and Obey The Brave, performing at Groezrock in Germany, and were called one of the 50 best American hardcore bands right now by Kerrang!. Later this year they’ll appear on the charity comp Songs That Saved My Life Vol. 2 covering Anti-Flag’s “Die For The Government” and will hit the road with Limbs and Wristmeetrazor.

I Don’t Know How But They Found Me

The new wave/indie pop duo iDKHOW blew the fuck up in 2018 after Fearless Records (Capstan, I Prevail, Set It Off) signed the duo and dropped their debut EP 1981 Extended Play. They opened for Deaf Havana last fall, appeared at Riot Fest, Reading And Leeds, and Slam Dunk this year, and even appeared on the cover of Alternative Press back in January. Let’s see what 2020 has planned for the duo.

We Were Sharks

The Ottawa based pop-punk group gained some attention after Victory Records (Abandoned By Bears, Broadside, Cro-Mags) released their debut full-length Lost Touch in early 2018. They got to do one day of Warped Tour, tour with Settle Your Scores and Abandoned By Bears, and by the year’s end, have Lost Touch reach over 3.1 million streams on Spotify. Fast forward to 2019 and they’re now independent again. WWS have currently toured with Summer Wars and later this year will be at The Fest in Florida and tour with Assuming We Survive and Never Loved.

The Millennium

If you weren’t aware, the Midwestern pop-rock band The Millennium called it a day back in November, lasting only four years. In that span of time, they played with 3OH!3, The Wrecks, and State Champs, did Warped Tour, and won Ernie Ball’s Warped Tour Battle Of The Bands twice.

lovelytheband

Born from the ashes of Oh Honey, alt-pop trio lovelytheband have been riding high after the success of their single “Broken” back in late 2017. The next two years would have the band drop their debut album Finding It Hard To Smile, doing shows with Walk The Moon,  Jimmy Eat World, and Vance Joy, and partook in an event run by Pepsi for the return of college football in Cleveland. Who knows what the new year has in store for the trio.

L.I.F.T

The emo rap group L.I.F.T aka Love In Future Times were having a promising 2018. That all came crashing down prior to appearing at the inaugural Sad Summer Fest with The Wonder Years and Just Friends when the group were allegedly grabbing fans inappropriately during photo ops. They’ve since went M.I.A. and maybe it’s for the best.

Fernway

The departure of a member isn’t gonna slow down the Buffalo alt-rock group. Now armed with bassist Alec Dub, the band are ready to take on 2020 with new material. They just dropped a new song called “Half-Life” back in August. Before Halloween, they’ll be playing their second annual Halloween show at Buffalo Iron Works with Ugly Sun, Post Prom, and Grace Greenan.

Dead Girls Academy

Rock outfit Dead Girls Academy have been doing well since releasing Alchemy last summer on Victory Records. Last summer they had the privilege of playing the final Vans Warped Tour and touring with Falling In Reverse. This year they’ve been constantly on the road, playing festivals like Welcome To Rockville, touring with John 5, and their first headlining tour. Later this fall DGA will tour with P.O.D. and Alien Ant Farm.

Color Killer

The youngest band ever to play Warped Tour did so much last year. Besides doing Warped Tour, they got to open up for The Mighty Mighty Bosstones during their annual Hometown Throwdown, added an additional guitarist Dylan, and dropped their debut album Generation Z independently last July. This year they released three songs, one being a cover of Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline”, played with their idols The Queers, and even have a skateboard, yes, a skateboard. Only 5 remain. Buy one.

*repeat repeat

A year ago I did photography for their show with Our Lady Peace. A year later I did the same thing at their headlining show at Buffalo Iron Works. And they remembered me. Since the last I wrote about them they dropped their sophomore album Glazed, performed at several festivals, and are currently touring with The Black Keys and Modest Mouse. It’s only up from here.

PKEW PKEW PKEW

Canadian punks PKEW PKEW PKEW were doing well in 2018, but when 2019 struck, big things happened. They dropped their second album Optimal Lifestyles on Dine Alone Records (Alexisonfire, JEFF The Brotherhood, Single Mothers), appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers, toured with Prenatt’s Picks 2019 band Spanish Love Songs, and played festivals like Riot Fest and Riverfest Elora. Wonder what 2020 will bring to the PKEWx3 boys.

Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling, outdoor

Calpurnia

Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard’s band Calpurnia did so much since I last wrote about them. Their debut EP Scout came out last year and they dropped a new song “Cell” back in March, appeared at Riot Fest last year and Shaky Knees Music Festival this year, and appeared in a Weezer music video. Sadly they cancelled a bunch of shows this summer, including an appearance at Lollapalooza. Hope they get better.

Story Untold

Canadian pop-punkers Story Untold dropped their debut album Waves on Hopeless Records (Emarosa, Neck Deep, Tiny Moving Parts) last year, which gave them several opportunities like a spot on the final Vans Warped Tour and touring with ROAM and With Confidence. This year, the band toured with Between You & Me and MAKEOUT and even got to play the Slam Dunk Festival. Expect their sophomore album sometime next year.

ASHES

Buffalo based metalcore group ASHES went through some changes this year, such as vocalist Felix Cruz III leaving. Besides playing a show earlier this year, they’ve been quite dormant. Unclean vocalist Jack Friend did launch a side project called Cold Camp last year and released their latest EP Holy Grail earlier this month. Check it out.

Varials

The Philly metalcore quintet are loving it at the moment. Just this year, they played both days of Warped Tour’s Atlantic City shows, touring with Sylar and Gideon, kicked ass at So What?! Music Festival, and just announced their new album In Darkness is coming out October 11 via Fearless Records. They’re touring with Counterparts and Stray From The Path this October through November.

Bearings

Last time we saw Bearings the Canadian band had their guitarist Tyler Nickel leave the group prior to their tour with Less Than Jake and Four Year Strong and were making their debut album Blue In The Dark, which came out last October on Pure Noise Records (Chamber, Meg & Dia, Take Offense). Fast forward to 2019 and the group have toured with Set It Off in Europe, co-headlined a tour in Canada with Belmont, and played Groezrock in Germany. Later this year they’ll play Four Year Strong’s Christmas show with Citizen, bloom., and The Movielife. They also seem to be up to something.

Hi, Mom!

The Sacramento pop-punk trio have been awfully quiet in 2019, just recently announcing a local showcase on Thursday, October 17. Earlier this year, they dropped their debut album Songs For Me. Maybe next year will bring more activity for the band.

Hobo Johnson & The LoveMakers

They blew up. I could simply leave it at that but you wouldn’t be satisfied. Since writing about them, they signed with major label Reprise Records (Deftones, Family Of The Year, Green Day), dropped their second album The Fall Of Hobo Johnson, played on Late Night With Seth Meyers, appeared at Reading And Leeds, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza, toured the UK and Ireland with Cavetown, played NPR (finally), and will playing a North American tour with Mom Jeans.. So yeah, they’re doing well.

Awaken I Am Release New Music Video, Announce Reddit AMA

Awaken I Am Release New Music Video, Announce Reddit AMA

Australian post-hardcore group Awaken I Am have unveiled their music video for “Kin“, the first video from their upcoming EP The Beauty In Tragedy. The EP is a tribute to former guitarist Connor Verner-Oakley who passed away last May.

When asked about the meaning behind the track, drummer Luke McKenzie said, “What would you say to someone who took a loved one from you if you had the chance? Part of dealing with the loss of our brother Connor was coming to terms that he was taken from us far too soon and the anger stemming from that. ‘Kin’ was our chance to bring those emotions to the surface and say what we needed towards the responsible party.”

Awaken I Am will also be hosting a public Reddit “Ask Me Anything” on Monday, March 18, on the r/PostHardcore subreddit. The band’s AMA will start at 7 p.m. EST.

The Beauty In Tragedy comes out April 26 via Victory Records (Abandoned By Bears, Don’t Sleep, Wretched).

Awaken I Am will start their tour with Slaves next Thursday with Slaves in the band’s native country and will hit the states next month as they support SECRETS on their anniversary tour for Fragile Figures. Check out the tour dates below.

10 Bands To See At Darien Lake’s Warped Tour Date

10 Bands To See At Darien Lake’s Warped Tour Date

If you didn’t know before, 2018 marks the final cross country run of the Vans Warped Tour. And of course the festival is going out with a bang, bringing in vets like Sum 41, The Used, and All Time Low. But guess what? They’re not playing Darien!

Much like every year prior, it seems that we are always handed the short end of the stick, mostly due to the fact that the Darien Lake date always falls in the midpoint of the tour or at the near end. Either all the special acts have already finished their run on the tour or they’re starting the day after. I don’t know if that bugs you guys but it infuriates me, even if it’s not a band I’m interested in.

But this year it seems that Kevin Lyman is smiling upon us, brining the Performing Arts Center some amazing acts. While many of you are stoked to see Knuckle Puck, Motionless In White, Every Time I Die, Simple Plan, or We The Kings, I’m stoked to see these guys. Here’s ten bands to check out on July 25.

We Were Sharks

Hometown: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Out Now: Lost Touch (Victory)

On Tour: 7/25

For Fans Of: Broadside, New Found Glory, Sugarcult

Holy shit, we hit the jackpot. If you’ve never read my blog before, you know how much I love these Canucks. Formed in 2011, these guys have worked hard, playing shows with Beartooth, A Wilhelm Scream, and Knockout Kid (fun fact: my project Nurse Joyful opened for that show when it came to Buffalo last March), and signed with Victory Records (Awaken I Am, Broadside, Jungle Rot) late last year. With that out the way, let’s talk about Warped. I’m shocked they’re even playing Buffalo since the only Canada date is in Toronto on July 16, which has Sum 41, Underoath, and Chase Atlantic. But I might as well count my blessings. We Were Sharks combine old school pop-punk with modern pop-punk, which makes them stand out from all the other bands on the tour. Please do not skip their only Warped Tour appearance this year.

Home Seeker

Hometown: Poughkeepsie, NY

Out Now: Stitches – Single (Self-Released)

On Tour: 7/25 & 7/27

For Fans Of: Crown The Empire, Light Up The Sky, Thousand Below

Do you like old school post-hardcore, you know, the kind of music that Rise Records went wild about in the early 2010s? Well I found a band that sounds exactly like that. Insert Home Seeker: a post-hardcore quartet from the Empire State that’s heavily overlooked. Their EP “Cemetery Mindset” was produced by former Chiodos vocalist Craig Owens (Hotel Books, These Hearts), giving them some credibility. Alex Lord’s vocals shocked me because he sounds exactly like a mix between Michael Bohn and Doriano Magliano, the former screaming vocalists of Woe, Is Me, and cleans that fit in well with the genre. They’re only playing for two days, that being Buffalo and Mansfield, MA. So if you are going to those dates, you might wanna check them out.

Capstan

Hometown: Orlando, FL

Out Now: In The Wake Of Our Discord (Adventure Cat)

On Tour: 7/10 – 8/5

For Fans Of: Jamie’s Elsewhere, Major League, SECRETS

To quote their page on Adventure Cat, “What happens when you mix a physics major, music producer, guitar virtuoso, profound lyricist and hockey enthusiast, all capable of drinking an absurd amount of beer? Capstan is formed.” Combining elements of prog, pop-punk and post-hardcore (think The Wonder Years meets Between The Buried And Me), this Floridian (two of the members are from out of state) quintet are showing that these genres can fit in together. It might sound weird just by reading this, but once you hear songs like “Elysian Fields” and “Wax Poetic”, you’ll see it oddly works. With Warped Tour being the main pop-punk festival, it should be no surprise to see these boys fitting in on tour. See them from July 10 (Nashville, TN) to August 5 (West Palm Beach, FL) on the owly.fm Stage along with As It Is, Doll Skin, and MAKEOUT.

Sleep On It

Hometown: Chicago, IL

Out Now: Overexposed (Equal Vision)

On Tour: 7/10 – 8/5

For Fans Of: Carousel Kings, Homesafe, State Champs

The Smash Mouth approved pop-punk band are finally on Warped this summer. Formed in 2012 is this pop-punk band that comes from Chicago, the same city that gave us bands such as The Academy Is…, Fall Out Boy, and Rise Against. And now, the Windy City has given us another reason as to why this city creates some pure talent. SIO have toured with many popular bands like Four Year Strong, As It Is, and Waterparks, and have played many festivals like Riot Fest, So What, and Four Chord. Their newest album, “Overexposed”, is a pop-punk classic in the making. They’ll be tearing up the owly.fm Stage from July 10 to August 5. Maybe you’ll see Derek DiScanio of State Champs sing his part on “Fireworks” during the tour. Whatever you do, don’t sleep on Sleep On It during Warped Tour.

Frank Turner

Hometown: Winchester, UK

Out Now: Be More Kind (Xtra Mile)

On Tour: 7/24 – 7/26

For Fans Of: Brian Fallon, Chuck Ragan, Dave Hause

Oh my fucking god. No way that we of all places have Frank Turner playing. Well it’s true. The British folk artist is coming to Darien Lake, along with Noblesville, IN, and Scranton, PA. Mr. Turner has been one of my favorite folk artists ever since I heard his song “Rock And Roll Romance” on the ninth Take Action compilation back in 2010. I saw him in Buffalo in 2016 and it was an incredible show. What I’m saying isn’t an understatement: Frank Turner is the 21st century’s Bruce Springsteen. His live shows are incredible and his music is just beyond words. He’s only playing these three days on the tour, so you better not skip him.

Broadside

Los Angeles, CA

Out Now: Paradise (Victory)

On Tour: 7/10 – 8/5

For Fans Of: Good Charlotte, State Champs, With Confidence

I’ve only seen these guys once when they opened for Real Friends last year (thanks Tom). Now a trio, the former East Coasters moved to Cali in 2017 and released “one of the most unique pop punk albums of the decade“, “Paradise”. They played Warped Tour in 2016 when they were still basically unknown. Since then, they grew in size, even if it meant losing members along the way. They’ve toured with Silverstein, With Confidence, and Trash Boat, three bands who are also playing on Warped this year. They’re only playing a few weeks this year, so please go see them. They’ll take you to “Paradise”.

Silverstein

Burlington, Ontario, Canada

Out Now: Dead Reflections (Rise)

On Tour: 7/17-7/20 & 7/25-7/28

For Fans Of: Before Their Eyes, From First To Last, Senses Fail

Wait a second, Chris. People know who Silverstein is. Yeah I know, but look at those dates. That ain’t the whole tour. I don’t even need to introduce these post-hardcore legends. Silverstein have been around since 2000 and started playing the tour back in 2004, the same year that had Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, and Atmosphere. This year makes it their ninth year on Warped Tour, tying them with Every Time I Die, Reel Big Fish, and Pennywise. And since they’re legends on the Warped Tour scene, you know damn well they wouldn’t miss this final cross country run. So if Silverstein is playing your city during the tour, do not skip them. You might regret it.

The Interrupters

Hometown: Los Angeles, CA

Out Now: Say It Out Loud (Hellcat)

On Tour: 7/14, 7/15, 7/17-7/19, 7/21-7/25 & 7/28-8/5

For Fans Of: The Distillers, Left Alone, Operation Ivy

I’m not proud when I say that I skipped on The Interrupters when they played Warped back in 2016. Now they’re playing Warped for a couple of days this year. The ska punk band fits right in with Warped’s rich history. Several legendary ska punk groups like Sublime, No Doubt, and Save Ferris have played in the past, and The Interrupters will fit in like a glove. Aimee Allen’s (aka Aimee Interrupter) vocals are just the right amount of rough and sweet, comparable to The Distillers’ Brody Dalle. You probably heard their song “Take Back The Power” in a T-Mobile commercial from 2015. With Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish being the only other ska bands on the tour, you might wanna get your fill of ska when you see The Interrupters during their runs.

Asking Alexandria

Hometown: York, UK

Out Now: Asking Alexandria (Sumerian)

On Tour: 7/22 – 7/28

For Fans Of: Beartooth, Memphis May Fire, Trivium

While I’m not the biggest fan of Asking Alexandria, I might see them during their only week on the tour. AA have been on the tour three times, starting back in 2011 and reappearing in 2016 with Denis Stoff as their vocalist when Danny Worsnop left for a year. Now back together with their “Stand Up And Scream” lineup, the British metal group are planning on shredding their short amount of time on the Journeys Left Foot Stage with 3OH!3, Frank Turner, and Issues. Prepare to hear some of their greatest hits as well as tracks from their new self-titled album which dropped last year on Sumerian Records (Between The Buried And Me, I See Stars, Palaye Royale).

Senses Fail

Ridgewood, NJ

Out Now: If There Is Light, It Will Find You (Pure Noise)

On Tour: 6/21-7/17, 7/20, 7/21 & 7/24-8/5

For Fans Of: Armor For Sleep, Matchbook Romance, Saosin

This right now is the most current band added to the tour. Senses Fail have been around for years, being the soundtrack to many teens in their emo phases in middle and high school. Don’t lie, you still love “Buried A Lie“. I missed my chance on seeing these guys with Reggie And The Full Effect and Have Mercy last month in Buffalo, so I’m not gonna miss them this time. Their newest album “If There Is Light, It Will Find You” came out in February 2018 on Pure Noise Records (Boston Manor, Less Than Jake, Terror). If you wanna celebrate the end of one of the greatest emo festivals of all time (yeah I know it originally was a punk festival, shut up), go see Senses Fail.
