The Menzingers Announce New Album “Some Of It Was True”

Beloved punk rock act The Menzingers are dropping a brand new album later this fall.

The Philly foursome, consisting of vocalist/guitarist Greg Barnett, vocalist/guitarist Tom May, bassist Eric Keen, and drummer Joe Godino, have been making waves in the punk scene for the past 17 years. With their heartfelt lyrics, anthemic sing-alongs, and energetic live performances, they have amassed a loyal fanbase worldwide.

Their upcoming seventh album, Some Of It Was True, comes out digitally October 13 via Epitaph Records (Babebee, The Ghost Inside, Magnolia Park.) Physical copies will be available January 26. Produced by Brad Cook (Hiss Golden Messenger, The String Cheese Incident, Waxahatchee,) the album promises to deliver the band’s signature gritty sound blended with introspective and thought-provoking lyrics. Its title was inspired by a line from The Clash’s punk anthem “London Calling.”

In the past few months, the group released two new tracks: “Bad Actors,” a song cut from their 2019 album Hello Exile, and the first single off their upcoming record “There’s No Place In This World For Me.” Check out that track below.

Some Of It Was True was written over the past two and a half years, according to Barnett. “This record just feels different for us,” Barnett continued in a press release. “It’s a really important one in our catalog, and a pivotal moment in our history. We have the liberty of our fans growing with us now, and after writing these lyrical songs about where we are in life, we decided to take other peoples’ stories and make something bigger out of it.”

The album’s second single was also released today, as well. “Hope Is A Dangerous Little Thing” is a sweet Americana track with a punk twinge. The track showcases the band’s knack for crafting emotionally charged songs with powerful instrumentation. With its driving rhythm, infectious hooks, and Greg Barnett’s impassioned vocals, “Hope Is A Dangerous Little Thing” instantly resonates with listeners.
