Machine Gun Kelly, Dropkick Murphys, Kississippi, More Announced For Riot Fest’s Second Waves Of Bands

Machine Gun Kelly, Dropkick Murphys, Kississippi, More Announced For Riot Fest’s Second Waves Of Bands

Barely a week ago, we learned who was attending this year’s Riot Fest. Now, as of Friday afternoon, we got even more added to the impressive bill.

Riot Fest announced that 28 bands and artists were being added to the festival. The festival also revealed the daily lineup for 2021. Friday’s announcement added Machine Gun Kelly, The Orphan The Poet, Bearings, Oxymorrons, Dropkick Murphys, 3OH!3, Knuckle Puck, Devon Kay & The Solutions, Bleached, and Kississippi, among others. Check out the current lineup and the daily lineup below.

However, two bands that were added last Friday will not be performing this fall. Emo trio Hospital Bracelet were removed following a post by former drummer Manae Hammond, saying that frontperson Eric Christopher did not ask Hammond or bassist Arya Woody to perform. She said in her thread, “so, if riot fest does happen this year, you won’t see arya and i playing with hospital bracelet. aside from being notified of it two days ago and not even being offered to play it, ever since we finished recording the album, we’ve barely been a part of the band.”

Saves The Day were also taken off the lineup following an accusation made against frontman Chris Conley. Loudwire reported that the now 41-year-old frontman — who met the victim when he was in his “mid-twenties” — groomed, harassed, and sent sexually charged messages to a minor. The incident happened sometime between March and December 2020. You can check out the messages here. Conley later confessed to the allegations, saying “I greatly mishandled a relationship with an old friend.” STD’s label Equal Vision Records (Gideon, The Juliana Theory, Young Culture) posted his statement and added that they “take allegations of this nature very seriously” and that they “are working diligently to uncover the truth behind what happened and our actions moving forward will reflect what we are able to find.”

Tickets are available now, but 3-day passes have sold out, as well as single day tickets for day 3.

Riot Fest 2021 will take place September 17 – 19, at Douglas Park in Chicago, Ill. A special Thursday Preview Party happens on September 16 featuring surprise sets from mystery bands and much more.

Get ready to riot.

Chicago’s beloved music festival Riot Fest is back after COVID-19 canceled last year’s event. And with vaccines being more available to everyone, and mask mandates being dropped across the country, Riot Fest 2021 looks like it won’t be delayed again.

The festival announced today the first wave of this year’s lineup, showing us that rap superduo Run The Jewels, 90’s alt-rock legends The Smashing Pumpkins, and industrial rock act Nine Inch Nails are headlining. Other acts announced were GWAR, Living Colour, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Devo, Sublime With Rome, The Bled (their first show since 2012), Faith No More, Circle Jerks, Beach Bunny, and Meet Me @ The Altar. Check out the current roster below.

Originally scheduled to headline 2020 and 2021’s events were My Chemical Romance, but the band canceled all of their performances for 2021 due to how uncertain things were since COVID-19 was still an issue at the time when they broke the news in April. However, the reunited rock icons will be taking the Riot Fest stage in 2022, being the first act announced for next year’s festivities.

Tickets are available now, but 3-day passes have sold out as of today. Single day passes will be announced next week. You can get tickets here.
