My Chemical Romance, Avril Lavigne, 3OH!3, More To Play When We Were Young Festival

Do you remember going to Warped Tour? Did you have a subscription to Alternative Press sometime between the late 2000s to mid-2010s? Was Hot Topic your go-to store? Well, there’s a festival for you!

Taking place later this fall is the second ever When We Were Young Festival, being held at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds in Nevada. For one day only on Saturday, October 22, old school pop-punk/emo bands, TikTok musicians, and scene bands from the 2010s, will be colliding for one of the best scene festivals to hit the U.S. since Warped Tour in 1995.

Headlining this year are scene gods My Chemical Romance and a recently reunited Paramore. Joining them are Bright Eyes, Avril Lavigne, Jimmy Eat World, A Day To Remember, and Bring Me The Horizon.

Also scheduled to perform are The All-American Rejects, Hawthorne Heights, 3OH!3, The Ready Set, Anberlin, Ice Nine Kills, Manchester Orchestra, The Story So Far, Meet Me @ The Altar, Pierce The Veil (their first show since 2017 when the band took a break after longtime drummer Mike Fuentes was accused of having sexual relations with two then-underaged girls), and more. What a great Christmas present from Chino Moreno and company!

After being inactive for over six years, electronic rock/dream pop trio ††† (pronounced as Crosses) have returned with a cover of Cause & Effect’s hit “The Beginning Of The End”.

†††, the side project of Deftones’s Chino Moreno, Far’s Shaun Lopez, and bassist Chuck Doom, unveiled their cover of Cause & Effect’s “The Beginning Of The End” yesterday as a Christmas gift for their fans who’ve waited for new material from the group for half a decade. Cause & Effect originally released “The Beginning Of The End” back in 1990 on their self-titled debut and later appeared on Another Minute, which was re-release of their debut record through BMG (The All-American Rejects, Elvis Costello, Yellowcard). Hear it below.

Valencia Celebrating 10 Year Anniversary Of ‘Dancing With A Ghost’ With First Ever Vinyl Pressing

Philly pop-punkers Valencia are celebrating a milestone for their third album by releasing in on vinyl for the first time ever.

Earlier today the band posted that Dancing With A Ghost would be getting the vinyl treatment for the very first time. Originally released on October 12, 2010, on I Surrender Records (Dragonette, Four Year Strong, I Am The Avalanche), the re-issue will be out on October 16 via Know Hope Records (Innerlove., Triangle Shirt Factory, Vinnie Caruana), a label owned by former Valencia guitarist JD Perry.

“Everyone experiences change in one form or another throughout life. Whether it’s a self-forced internal change, or the universe throwing you a curveball. In the wake of ‘We All Need A Reason To Believe,’ we all experienced changes in our own ways personally, and as a band. ‘Dancing With A Ghost’ in its title form, symbolizes those changes and how we experience, learn, and grow from them,” says vocalist Shane Henderson in a press release. “They’re songs of fighting yourself like hell on numerous social and personal topics, wanting to be better, and learning the hard lesson of letting it all go. It is that struggle in ourselves I think many of us are determined to figure out, and we attempted to figure out through this album.”

According to the press release, “Presented in three unique vinyl variants and housed in gatefold packaging, Dancing With A Ghost receives the deluxe presentation it has always demanded. The artwork has been completely re-imagined by guitarist Brendan Walter, and sees the inclusion of an expanded eight-page insert and bonus 7” EP comprised of alternate version tracks. These additional songs, never released before, are taken from the original recording sessions and only available in this first time pressing.”

Certain bundles come with Enjoy The Fruits, a limited edition coffee-table book curated and designed by the band. The book “is a career spanning look into the world Valencia with over 100 pages of content drawn from not only the bands personal archives, but from the archives of their families, friends, fans, and crew.”

Dancing With A Ghost was the follow-up to their sophomore album We All Need A Reason To Believe which came out on major label Columbia Records (24kGoldn, Bring Me The Horizon, Orville Peck). Produced by Grammy Award-winner Carlos de la Garza (Bad Religion, Paramore, Young The Giant) and multi-platinum record producer Mark Trombino (Blink-182, Jimmy Eat World, Something Corporate) and, it was the band’s final album released prior to their hiatus in 2011. Valencia have since reunited doing several shows, including last year’s Vans Warped Tour 25th anniversary show in Atlantic City, N.J., with Atmosphere, Neck Deep, and Sleeping With Sirens.

Forever The Sickest Kids Are Working On Something

Finally some good news for 2020.

Beloved Texan neon pop group Forever The Sickest Kids revealed to their fans on Thursday that new music might be coming out soon. This marks the first time in seven years that the band put out any new material, their latest being 2013’s J.A.C.K., their only album with Fearless Records (The Almost, NOT A TOY, Volumes).

The news broke out after Alternative Press wrote an article about ten neon pop bands that need to reunite, which featured bands like Artist Vs Poet, The Friday Night Boys, and Cobra Starship. After the feature was published, both the band and frontman Jonathan Cook took to social media to break the good news. All the band said was, “watch out very soon!” On his account, Cook wrote, “We may not quite look like this anymore, and the odds are pretty bad that We ever will, but the odds are darn good that WE, Forever The Sickest Kids will be back active!”

To add some fuel to the fire, FTSK posted studio images back in April and May, jokingly asking fans if they wanted to hear Owl City, Snoop Dogg, Justin Bieber, Tom DeLonge of Angels & Airwaves, Lil Wayne, or Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz on a song.

After dropping J.A.C.K., FTSK embarked that summer on the Vans Warped Tour, playing on the Tilly’s stage with The Summer Set, Goldfinger, and New Years Day, and the Kia Forte stage with Bring Me The Horizon, Sleeping With Sirens, and Chiodos. They went on hiatus for a few years, reuniting briefly in 2017 to play So What?! Music Festival with Cute Is What We Aim For, Ghostemane, and Mayday Parade and some dates on the 2019 Sad Summer Festival with State Champs, The Wonder Years, and Just Friends.
