Warped Tour Is Back…Kinda

Warped Tour Is Back…Kinda

It’s back! Well, not in the way we expected.

Back in November 2017, the world was told that Warped Tour’s cross-country run would be coming to an end by August 2018. After Pennywise finished their set on the tour’s final day on August 5, Warped Tour officially closed. Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman did say that there would be something special for next year since it will be Warped Tour’s 25th year. After a tweet made by Lyman showed the sign of the Columbia, Md., date for this year’s warped was shown with the words “Home of Warped 2019”, people began speculating that something big was coming.

Well today we finally have closure. Lyman tweeted earlier today that there will be something big for the 25th year. The tweet read, “Plans are coming together for @VansWarpedTour 25th only thing I can say for now since many need to hold vacations dates are June 8 Cleveland, June 29-30 eastcoast, July 20-21 westcoast.”

With only one confirmed location, the rest of the locations are now just guesses. If I had to guess, the east coast location would be Columbia, Md., since Lyman tweeted about it earlier in the year, and the west coast location would have to be somewhere in California since the tour and Lyman are from there. The confirmed places for the Warped Tour shows on both coasts should be unveiled soon.

The Vans Warped Tour first started in 1995 and had bands like Sublime, No Doubt, and Quicksand on the first run. Since then, numerous acts like All Time Low, We Came As Romans, NOFX, Less Than Jake, and Flogging Molly have done runs on the tour. Famous artists who’ve played the tour and became popular later on include Katy Perry, 3OH!3, Machine Gun Kelly, Fall Out Boy, Of Mice & Men, The All-American Rejects, Eminem, Gym Class Heroes, Motion City Soundtrack, and The Black Eyed Peas.

Kendrick Lamar, Between The Buried And Me, Fall Out Boy, More Nominated For Grammys In 2019

Music’s biggest night has unveiled the artists who are nominated for next year’s award show.

The 61st Grammy Awards have released the artists nominated for the Grammys, and the lineup is filled with several famous artists ranging from rap (Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Cardi B), pop (Shawn Mendes, Zedd, Bebe Rexha), rock (Arctic Monkeys, Bring Me The Horizon, Greta Van Fleet), and metal (Between The Buried And Me, Deafheaven, Underoath).

The award show was blasted last year for having a not so diverse lineup featuring little to no women. But it seems that will be changing next year. As Variety wrote, “Looking at the four main categories, 5 out of 7 Album of the Year nominees are female artists (the 8th is the Lamar-helmed multi-artist “Black Panther” soundtrack); 6 of the 8 nominees for Best New Artist are female; 5 of the 8 nominees for Song of the Year are by female artists or co-billed with male artists; 5 of the 8 nominees for Record of the year have at least one female songwriter.”

Some of the biggest surprises for nominations include Bring Me The Horizon and Twenty One Pilots fighting over Best Rock Song, Fever 333 nominated for Best Rock Performance, and Underoath’s second Grammy nomination (their first was back in 2006 for Best Short Form Music Video for “Writing On The Walls”).

The 61st Grammys takes place February 10, 2019, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., at 8 p.m. est on CBS.
