Maroon 5 Finally Confirmed To Play The Super Bowl, Will Be Joined By Two Rappers

Looks like Variety was right.

The NFL finally confirmed on Sunday that Maroon 5 will headline Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta, Ga. The pop group will take the center stage during the Pepsi Super Bowl halftime show on February 3 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Maroon 5 celebrated the news by posting a video on their Instagram.

Joining Maroon 5 will be rapper Travis Scott and Atlantan rapper Big Boi who is one half of rap duo OutKast. Artists like P!nk, Rihanna, and Cardi B were scheduled to appear alongside the pop band, but dropped out in support of ex-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick (P!nk dropped out when negotiations between her and the NFL fell through). According to Billboard, Scott only agreed to play if the NFL did something for him. “Scott required the NFL to make a joint donation to an organization fighting for social justice in order for him to move forward with the event,” a source close to Billboard said.

Performers at past halftime shows include Justin Timberlake, Aerosmith, Lady Gaga, U2, No Doubt, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, The Black Eyed Peas, Madonna, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, and Coldplay.

Kendrick Lamar, Between The Buried And Me, Fall Out Boy, More Nominated For Grammys In 2019

Music’s biggest night has unveiled the artists who are nominated for next year’s award show.

The 61st Grammy Awards have released the artists nominated for the Grammys, and the lineup is filled with several famous artists ranging from rap (Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Cardi B), pop (Shawn Mendes, Zedd, Bebe Rexha), rock (Arctic Monkeys, Bring Me The Horizon, Greta Van Fleet), and metal (Between The Buried And Me, Deafheaven, Underoath).

The award show was blasted last year for having a not so diverse lineup featuring little to no women. But it seems that will be changing next year. As Variety wrote, “Looking at the four main categories, 5 out of 7 Album of the Year nominees are female artists (the 8th is the Lamar-helmed multi-artist “Black Panther” soundtrack); 6 of the 8 nominees for Best New Artist are female; 5 of the 8 nominees for Song of the Year are by female artists or co-billed with male artists; 5 of the 8 nominees for Record of the year have at least one female songwriter.”

Some of the biggest surprises for nominations include Bring Me The Horizon and Twenty One Pilots fighting over Best Rock Song, Fever 333 nominated for Best Rock Performance, and Underoath’s second Grammy nomination (their first was back in 2006 for Best Short Form Music Video for “Writing On The Walls”).

The 61st Grammys takes place February 10, 2019, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., at 8 p.m. est on CBS.

Watch Darth Nater Cover Brockhampton On Ukulele

Guess rap and ukulele go hand in hand.

Buffalo based artist Darth Nater released a video of him playing Brockhampton’s song “SAN MARCOS” from their 2018 album iridescence on ukulele. The odd cover is beautiful yet bizarre. Just makes you wonder if other rap songs can sound this good on a ukulele.

Darth Nater released his newest album A Century Ago earlier this year. He also dropped more songs in 2018, including Cringe WatchingThanos Did Nothing WrongDon’t Burn Your Nikes (Send Them To Me), and Justice For Waluigi, which I did a review of.

Brockhampton dropped their fourth album iridescence back in September on RCA Records (Bleachers, Justin Timberlake, Winnetka Bowling League) and their own label Question Everything, Inc.

Cute Is What We Aim For Announce Fall Tour

Cute Is What We Aim For Announce Fall Tour

Beloved Buffalonian pop-punk act Cute Is What We Aim For will be hitting the road throughout the U.S. and a day in Canada this fall.

The band will be joined along with Prenatt’s Picks alum MAKEOUT, Pennsylvanian electronic pop rock quartet Minshara, and Florida based indie-pop group Brightside. This tour will be the band’s first tour in over a year, that being We The Kings’ 10 year anniversary tour for their self-titled debut album.

Cute Is What We Aim For were well-known a decade ago, releasing two albums with Fueled By Ramen (The Front Bottoms, nothing, nowhere., SWMRS) before disbanding in 2009. Vocalist Shaant Hacikyan turned CIWWAF into a solo venture, appearing on Punk Goes Pop Vol. 3 covering T.I. and Justin Timberlake’s “Dead And Gone”. The group came back together in 2012 with original members Fred Cimato (bass, who eventually left a year later), Tom Falcone (drums), and Jeff Czum (guitar/vocals). Since reuniting, the band have toured with You Me At Six, WSTR, and The Dangerous Summer. CIWWAF played Warped Tour in 2013, their first since 2007, and played the Slam Dunk Festival in the UK in 2016 and 2017.
