They’re back!
The Almost, side project of Underoath’s Aaron Gillespie, are back with a new album and label. The Christian rock band announced they’re now a part of Fearless Records (Grayscale, Parting Gift, The Word Alive) and are dropping a brand new album called Fear Caller on October 18.
Fear Caller is the group’s first album since 2013’s Fear Outside Our Bones. A new song called “Chokehold” is available now to listen to.
“I have a romantic affinity for the desert,” Gillespie said in a press release about the influence behind Fear Caller. “There are so many untold stories and hidden truths. The beginning of our thoughts and existence as a people happened out there. For me, it was a cathartic experience. It’s something I’ve never done. I needed to get out there with the ghosts and see what would happen.”
Gillespie said the song “Chokehold” is a very personal one. “It’s a story of my childhood that really comes apart in the bridge discussing my father,” he said. “The song essentially explains how I got to be the way I am. I need the chokehold to succeed. It’s one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written.”
The Almost teased their comeback when Gillespie appeared as The Almost on Punk Goes Acoustic Vol. 3 with an acoustic rendition of “Hand Grenade”.
