The Almost Return With New Album, Sign With Fearless Records

They’re back!

The Almost, side project of Underoath’s Aaron Gillespie, are back with a new album and label. The Christian rock band announced they’re now a part of Fearless Records (Grayscale, Parting Gift, The Word Alive) and are dropping a brand new album called Fear Caller on October 18.

Fear Caller is the group’s first album since 2013’s Fear Outside Our Bones. A new song called “Chokehold” is available now to listen to.

“I have a romantic affinity for the desert,” Gillespie said in a press release about the influence behind Fear Caller. “There are so many untold stories and hidden truths. The beginning of our thoughts and existence as a people happened out there. For me, it was a cathartic experience. It’s something I’ve never done. I needed to get out there with the ghosts and see what would happen.”

Gillespie said the song “Chokehold” is a very personal one. “It’s a story of my childhood that really comes apart in the bridge discussing my father,” he said. “The song essentially explains how I got to be the way I am. I need the chokehold to succeed. It’s one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written.”

The Almost teased their comeback when Gillespie appeared as The Almost on Punk Goes Acoustic Vol. 3 with an acoustic rendition of “Hand Grenade”.

It’s fucking happening people!

As most of you know, information on the next Punk Goes album comes out tomorrow. But now even Fearless Records (Locket, Oceans Ate Alaska, Wage War) can contain their excitement, cause they posted all the info we’ll ever need.

The nineteenth album in the series is Punk Goes Acoustic, Vol. 3. So yes, there’s no Pop, Vol. 8, which makes me beyond happy. The info was posted on punkgoes.com, which has a huge MySpace design to fit with the teasers. The website shows all the artists who are on the album, as well as a Spotify playlist decked out with MySpace era bands like Head Automatica, Paramore, We The Kings, Hellogoodbye, and Never Shout Never, to name a few.

Appearing on Punk Goes Acoustic, Vol. 3 are Dashboard Confessional, As It Is, Circa Survive, Underoath, The Almost, Dance Gavin Dance, Grayscale, Mayday Parade, Taking Back Sunday, Don Broco, Movements, and Set It Off. Only two tracks have been confirmed, which are “Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing” by Set It Off and “A Decade Under The Influence” by Taking Back Sunday.

A teaser for “A Decade Under The Influence” was posted on the website. Listen to it here.

The album is the follow-up to Punk Goes Acoustic 2, which came out in 2007. It featured Jack’s Mannequin, The All-American Rejects, Relient K, Anti-Flag, and Say Anything. The last Punk Goes album was Punk Goes Pop Vol. 7 in 2017, featuring State Champs, New Years Day, The Amity Affliction, Eat Your Heart Out, and Too Close To Touch.

Punk Goes Is Teasing Something For Friday

Punk Goes Is Teasing Something For Friday

After a teaser came out in May, Punk Goes dropped another one.

The cover album series created by Fearless Records (Ice Nine Kills, Parting Gift, Underoath) in 2000 posted something to keep our hopes up on a new entry (as long as it isn’t another fucking Punk Goes Pop album).

A brand new teaser posted on Punk Goes’s Instagram story shows another MySpace era post showing us that something’s coming this Friday. Check it out below.

Looks like we have to wait until June 28 for anything about the new one. Hopefully it’s about Punk Goes 2000s.

The last album in the series, Punk Goes Pop Vol. 7, came out in 2017. It featured bands like Grayscale, Dance Gavin Dance, Seaway, Eat Your Heart Out, and Boston Manor, covering twenty one pilots, Adele, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, and James Bay.
