My Chemical Romance’s Drummer Announced For Reunion Shows

My Chemical Romance’s Drummer Announced For Reunion Shows

No, it’s not Bob Bryar.

When My Chemical Romance announced their reunion back on Halloween, several questions were brought up, one of them being who would be drumming for the rock group?

Now, we have an answer according to Billboard. The magazine confirmed from an editor’s note that former touring drummer Jarrod Alexander will be behind the kit for the band’s reunion show next month in Los Angeles, as well as their other gigs in 2020.

Alexander is no stranger to MCR fans. He worked with the group on their Honda Civic tour with Blink-182 in 2011 and stayed as their touring drummer until their final show at The Bamboozle music festival in 2012 in early May. He posted a photo of the “return” image on his Instagram account a week ago, further cementing the fact that he’s back as their drummer. Fans also started to say he would be a part of the reunion.

Prior to working for MCR, Alexander was the drummer for several bands including A Static Lullaby, Only Crime, The Vandals, JamisonParker, and was the original drummer for Death By Stereo. He also went on to work for the solo projects of MCR members Gerard Way, Frank Iero, and Ray Toro.

My Chemical Romance Are Reuniting, Announce Intimate Show

My Chemical Romance Are Reuniting, Announce Intimate Show

It’s fucking happening! This is not a prank!

The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally happening.

My Chemical Romance are back. We’ve missed you, boys.

Teasers about a reunion first started yesterday when guitarist Frank Iero, who also fronts Frank Iero And The Future Violents, posted a photo with a bizarre caption on his Instagram. “it’s reported that it’s going to rain in new jersey tomorrow, washing out all Halloween festivities…” he wrote. “Guess we’re gonna have to find something else to do.”

Then, the band started posting on their official Instagram account again, as well as updating their Facebook profile picture. But it all hit the fan when they announced their “RETURN” with an intimate show in Los Angeles on Friday, December 20, at the Shrine Expo Hall. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 3 p.m. est at axs.com.

This show marks the band’s first gig since disbanding in 2013. MCR’s last show was their headlining show at The Bamboozle music festival in 2012 on May 19 along with Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World, and The All-American Rejects.

MCR formed in 2001 in Newark, N.J., and released four albums, their last one being 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys. After breaking up, they released a greatest hits record called May Death Never Stopped You, featuring tracks from all of their albums.

Rumors of an MCR reunion kicked off in 2016 when the band started teasing something, only for it to be a 10-year anniversary edition of their beloved album The Black Parade titled The Black Parade/Living With Ghosts. Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers claimed that MCR was reuniting this year. And Kevin Lyman, founder of the Vans Warped Tour, tried to bring the band back together to perform at Warped Tour’s 25th anniversary shows earlier this summer to no avail.

Let’s hope this is a permanent reunion. The world needs more MCR.
