The Most Anticipated Albums Of 2021 (Part One)

While 2020 was shit, the albums we got that year were pretty tight. But some records were delayed for the sole purpose of releasing them when touring was given the “OK” to. As of now, touring is still off limits, but that won’t stop some bands from dropping new music this year.

In 2021, we’re getting several great albums some several great bands and artists, but out of all the albums that are coming out this year, these are the ones you need to keep your eyes on. Here are the most anticipated albums of 2021, in no particular order.

Every Time I Die

Album: TBA

Release Date: TBA (Epitaph)

Five years. That’s how long it’s been since Every Time I Die have dropped a new album. Low Teens brought in a ton of fans, and those fans are dying to hear some new material. While we did get teasers of new songs during their live shows in 2019, and a snippet on Instagram, no full tracks were ever released yet. That was until late last year when ETID gifted those who bought tickets to their Christmas telethon event on December 19 a download of “AWOL”. And then they released A Colossal Wreck” and “Desperate Pleasures” on all streaming services. So when does album #9 drop? Who knows.

’68

Album: Give One, Take One (Cooking Vinyl)

Release Date: March 26

Originally intended to drop last spring, noise-rock duo ’68 pushed this record back a full year and gave their fans a killer EP titled Love Is Ain’t Dead., produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, The Hold Steady, Rush). Now we’re only weeks away from vocalist/guitarist Josh Scogin and drummer Nikko Yamada’s third album (their first with Yamada on the kit). “I’m so proud of this album and humbled by the journey that it took to get here. And if I’m honest, the vast majority of my thoughts are circled around the hope that we will be able to perform these songs live one day soon,” Scogin said in a press statement.

3OH!3

Album: TBA (Photo Finish)

No one was expecting a new album from Warped Tour crunk faves 3OH!3, but damn we need it. The Boulder duo announced last year that they were signing with the label that made them them, Photo Finish Records (guardin, Handsome Ghost, SHAED) and gave fans a taste of their new record by releasing their first music in four years, “LONELY MACHINES” featuring 100 gecs. Spite

Album: TBA (Self-Released)

Release Date: TBD

While no word yet has come out on when Bay Area metal legion Spite will drop their third album, we do know that they are working on it. Back in November, the band posted an interesting message on social media, showing a building with cars parked outside. Some fans are assuming from the photo that they’re currently working on new material. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Citizen

Album: Life In Your Glass World (Run For Cover)

Release Date: March 26

Bet you weren’t expecting this sound. On Citizen’s fourth outing, the emo band have thrown away their old sound for something more akin to indie-rock. “I don’t have a lot of regret but there have definitely been times when we felt powerless during the band’s existence,” guitarist Nick Hamm said to Kerrang!. “This time we really owned every part of the process. It’s easy to feel like you’re on autopilot when you’re in a band, but that’s not a good place to be this far into our existence. We consciously knew we wanted to break free.”And after hearing Life In Your Glass World‘s debut single “I Want To Kill You”, this new style is very welcoming.

Rob Zombie on His Vegan Lifestyle

Rob Zombie

Album: The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy (Nuclear Blast)

Release Date: March 12

On his first album with Nuclear Blast (The Damned Things, Ghost Bath, Meshuggah), singer-songwriter/filmmaker/voice actor Rob Zombie shows us that if it isn’t broken, don’t try fixing it. To quote Blabbermouth.net, The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy “is a classic Zombie album to its core, with high-energy rages like “The Eternal Struggles Of The Howling Man” and “Get Loose” to heavy-groove thumpers like “Shadow Of The Cemetery Man” and “Shake Your Ass-Smoke Your Grass”.” So yeah, it’s a damn good time.

The Fest 19 Postponed To 2021, Announce Killer Lineup

The Fest 19 Postponed To 2021, Announce Killer Lineup

Surprised? You shouldn’t be.

The beloved Floridian punk rock music festival The Fest will not be taking place this year due to the current coronavirus pandemic that’s sweeping the world at the moment.

Founder Tony Weinbender broke the unfortunate news yesterday in a lengthly post on the festival’s website. “I know this is hard for many of you and it’s very hard on all of us,” Weinbender wrote to fans. “Many of us have worked very hard to bring you a killer lineup this year and the hardest part is knowing that even with our best intentions there is just not a feasible way to make FEST 19 the safe, fun, and awesome time we have all become accustomed to.”

Weinbender did however announce the new dates for The Fest 19, now taking place from Friday, October 29 to Sunday, October 31, 2021. He also posted three important options for those who bought tickets/hotel rooms/merch for this year’s installment:

OPTION #1: You can REQUEST A REFUND
OPTION #2: You can KEEP YOUR PASS/HOTEL/MERCH AND USE IT FOR THE POSTPONED 2021 DATES
OPTION #3: You can CHANGE THE NAME ON YOUR ORDER AND GIVE THE PASS TO SOMEONE ELSE WITH NO CHANGE FEE APPLIED

These requests will be good for the next 30 days. After Thursday, August 6, anyone who hasn’t contacted the website for refunds will automatically have their purchases transferred over to the 2021 makeup dates.

Now for the important part. Since the festival’s getting postponed, will there be a new lineup? Yes and no. So far, over 230 bands have confirmed that they will be playing in 2021, such as Frank Turner, Prince Daddy & The Hyena, Into It. Over It., Beach Slang, The Callous Daoboys, Red City Radio, Modern Life Is War, Gouge Away, Skatune Network, and The Lawrence Arms. For a full list of bands for 2021, click or tap here.
