Two Door Cinema Club, Rex Orange County, Waterparks, More Announced For Reading And Leeds’s First Wave

The UK’s biggest festival just announced the first wave of acts for Reading And Leeds 2020. And it’s massive.

Yesterday we learned that Rage Against The Machine would be headlining alongside Liam Gallagher (who leaked his announcement in November.) The other headliner for R&L is British rapper Stormzy. Also playing the festival are Waterparks, IDLES, Cancer Bats, FEVER 333, All Time Low, Two Door Cinema Club, As It Is, The Maine, Rex Orange County, and KSI (yes, the YouTuber.)

CHVRCHES, Gojira, Hum, More To Play Dia De Los Deftones 2019

CHVRCHES, Gojira, Hum, More To Play Dia De Los Deftones 2019

Deftones have unveiled the lineup for their second annual music festival Dia De Los Deftones.

Joining Deftones this year are CHVRCHES, JPEGMAFIA, Gojira, Hum, Youth Code, and Brutus.

In a press release Deftones lead singer and guitarist Chino Moreno said, “In our second year of our festival, the exciting challenge for us is to make sure we once again give the fans a wonderful day of music that reflects the diversity of our own tastes. Each artist fits a different vertical of the music that we all love. There is truly something for everyone.”

Check out the poster for the festival below.

The festival will take place Saturday, November 2 at San Diego’s Petco Park. Tickets go on sale this Friday.

Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta wasn’t too keen on seeing CHVRCHES as second on the bill after Gojira. The vocalist took to Twitter to rant about the band, saying, “Who is churches with a v and why the fuck are they playing over Gojira get tha fuuuuuck outtta here have you ever heard The Heaviest Matter In The Universe you’re gonna get embarrassed off the stage lol no offense. God the music industry suckkkkks sometimes.”

CHVRCHES’s vocalist Lauren Mayberry chimed in with, “Deftones curated the lineup so I don’t know how that speaks to problems with The Music Industry. I think it’s important and powerful that they promote the idea of a diverse community and try to bridge gaps instead of being guided by limiting, antiquated ideas about genre.” She continued by saying, “I saw Gojira in Glasgow years ago and have seen Deftones three times so was excited when we got asked to be on the bill. Just because someone plays or listens to ‘pop music’ doesn’t mean they don’t understand or appreciate other things.”

Jasta didn’t reply back to Mayberry but did go on to fire off several more tweets about the billing. He did however go on to give props to CHVRCHES’s booking agent on getting them on the festival, calling it a “gangster power move.”

The inaugural festival last year featured Future, Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, Ho99o9, Vein, and Rocket From The Crypt.

Ariana Grande, CHON, Turnstile, More To Play Coachella

Ariana Grande, CHON, Turnstile, More To Play Coachella

Today the 20th Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival announced this year’s lineup, packed with artists and musicians of multiple genres. Genres like Latin (Bad Bunny, Mon Laferte, Rosalía), alternative (The 1975, CHVRCHES, Weezer), rap (Playboi Carti, Jaden Smith, YG), EDM (Aphex Twin, Diplo, Ross From Friends), pop (BLACKPINK, Billie EIlish, Jain), R&B (Khalid Ella Mai, Solange), and others, will appear at the two weekend festival.

Headlining this year’s festival are rapper Childish Gambino, Australian psychedelic rock group Tame Impala, and pop star Ariana Grande. Gambino will headline Friday, April 12 and 19, TI will headline Saturday, April 13 and 20, and Grande will headline Sunday, April 14 and 21. Other bands that will appear during the weekends are Turnstile, King Princess, JPEGMAFIA, The Frights, Kero Kero Bonito, Mac DeMarco, Sabrina Claudio, Turnover, CHON, Superorganism, Kaytranada, boy pablo, Soccer Mommy, Alice Merton, and 070 Shake.

Kanye West was apparently supposed to headline one of the days, but pulled out at the last minute. The 40×60 stages were apparently “artistically limiting,” a source told TMZ. “These 40×60 stages are so archaic. It’s the same type of stage on which Shakespeare’s works were performed hundreds of years ago.”

Another interesting fact about today is the mysterious group Gucci Gang. Named after the song by rapper Lil Pump, no one has heard about the group until today. When Coachella’s website showed a picture of Gucci Gang, the image was of Atlanta based rapper Gucci Mane. Some thought it was a typo, but it wasn’t. Turns out it’s a supergroup made up of Mane, Pump, and Chicago rapper Smokepurpp.

Presale tickets go on sale Friday at 11 a.m. Festival passes can be purchased right here.
